Diane Normoyle • English

Picture
Diane Normoyle teaches Freshman and Senior English at Skyview High School, as well as the elective classes Multicultural Literature and Southwestern Literature. She is a native of Massachusetts, but she has lived in Alabama, Alaska and Europe also. (Ms. Normoyle grew up as an Army brat!) She has lived in Tucson for the last 20 years and can’t imagine living anywhere else. She received her BA in English Literature and her Secondary Education certification from Prescott College.

Ms. Normoyle thought she would be a teacher when she was in fourth grade. By the time she graduated from high school, she was sure she would go into psychology. After taking a break from college to start a family, Ms. Normoyle returned to her first love: being in the classroom. A list of Ms. Normoyle’s most favorite things would include:her wonderful family, her dogs and cats, reading, and the staff and students at Skyview High School!

Ms. Normoyle has been teaching at Skyview for almost seven years and truly enjoys her work. She believes the students at this school are “brighter and more creative” than the average student. She also enjoys the longer class periods; she feels students get more attention in class and that she knows her students better than most teachers at the “regular” public high schools. Ms. Normoyle is dedicated to her students; her goal is to be instrumental in their success in the classroom and outside it. She feels that Skyview has the recipe for student success: caring, competent staff, willing, intelligent students and NCA-certified curriculum. What a winning combination!
